This particular toilet flange was 5 8 above the floor level.

When installing the toilet flange you need to check that it s the correct height and is also perfectly level.
The reason being is because the toilet recesses into the flange when fully installed but when the flange sits even or below the floor the toilet can t properly recess into the flange.

The perfect height for the toilet flange is to be the same level as the finished floor.
If the toilet flange is at the incorrect height it will cause problems with the toilet connecting onto the plumbing.
Purchase a new one.
This is very important.
If the previous flange is too low purchase one that is designed to sit on the finished floor and provide the optimum toilet flange height.
It has to sit evenly on top of the finished floor.
To get the necessary clearance from the floor you can add a toilet flange.
The optimum toilet flange height is approximately inch above the floor to achieve the best seal and overall fit.
In most cases the floor of a bathroom is tiled and in this case the tiling is done after the flange is installed.
If you recently tiled or changed the bathroom flooring the flange height is likely less than optimal.
