Toilet Clear Floor Space

Where the toilet room or bathing room is for individual use and a clear floor space complying with 305 3 is provided within the room beyond the arc of the door swing doors shall be permitted to swing into the clear floor space or clearance required for any fixture.

Toilet clear floor space.

Plan a clear floor space of at least 30 inches from the front edge of all fixtures lavatory toilet bidet tub and shower to any opposite bath fixture wall or obstacle. Refer to figure b. The door swing is allowed to overlap the clearance for a lavatory in a toilet room as long as there is a 30 760 mm x 48 1220 mm clear floor space beyond the arc of the door. Refer to figure j.

The accessible urinal is required to have a 30 x 48 760 mm x 1220 mm clear floor or ground space positioned for forward approach. To pass state building code every fixture in the bathroom including the toilet must have a minimum of 21 inches of clear floor space in front of it. Position at most elements clear floor or ground space can be positioned for either a forward or a side approach. Doors can swing into the turning space.
